The collection of articles in the ‘Environmental Indicators for Uzbekistan’ publication is the result of a joint effort conducted by various national experts from several national agencies and ministries. This publication was produced within the framework of the project ‘Enhancement of Environmental Indicators Database with GIS Application to Monitor the State of the Environment in Uzbekistan’, jointly implemented by UNDP and the Government of Uzbekistan.

The publication contains a review of current environmental concerns, as well as recommendations for their mitigation. International experience was sought to assist with the identification of various indicators for each focus area, and each was scrutinised to determine viability. The indicators which were selected for use, along with justifications for each, are presented alongside the achieved results in each focus area.
