Cherie Hart is currently the UNDP Regional Communications Adviser in Bangkok, where she collaborates with UNDP Country Offices to promote development work through media in the Asia and Pacific region.

Ms. Hart has more than 25 years experience in media and communications. Her area of expertise is in development writing and reporting. Her professional background extends to television, radio and print reporting from more than 50 developing countries.

She has been Executive Producer of two Discovery Channel documentaries on low-cost solutions to global disaster-related challenges. Himalayan Meltdown recently won the Platinum Prize for Best Documentary at the Worldfest Film Festival. She has produced five television public service announcements on environment and governance topics that have run on CNN International.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Hart was Chief of the Media Section of UNDP in New York, organizing international press trips to showcase UNDP’s work around the world. She was also a writer at the UN Population Fund. Before joining the United Nations, she was an on-air reporter and producer for KMGH Television, which was a CBS affiliate in Denver, Colorado. She also had a radio show on WYBC in New Haven, Connecticut, and was a news writer for WVLC radio on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. She was a staff reporter for Women’s World Magazine and the National Enquirer.

Ms. Hart is from the United States and holds a BA in History from Yale University, USA.
