New York - Star footballer and UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Didier Drogba took a moment this week to express his support for the newly approved Sustainable Development Goals, popularly known as the Global Goals.
The Ivorian all-time national top scorer especially expressed his enthusiasm for Global Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and 4 (Quality Education). "Health," Drogba said, "is one of the biggest problems in Africa, and in the world."
The legendary former Chelsea striker, who now plays for Montreal Impact, started his own foundation in 2007, focusing precisely on these themes. The "Fondation Didier Drogba" aims to make health care and education available to the poorest in both Côte d'Ivoire and the entire African continent.
The 17 Global Goals, in addition to health and education, focus on ending poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and tackling climate change by the year 2030. "There is still a lot to do, and I try to help with the Foundation and all the work that has been done by UNDP," Drogba commented.
