UNDP Administrator reflects on Haiti, addresses Executive Board

19 Jan 2010

Earlier today UNDP Administrator Helen Clark addressed the first regular session of UNDP’s Executive Board. It was her third statement to the Board since becoming Administrator of UNDP last April.

Miss Clark outlined UNDP’s continuing work on the interlinked agendas of climate change response and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and on transforming the work of UNDP to achieve greater results in an evolving world.

Before giving her formal remarks, Miss Clark spoke briefly on her recent trip to Haiti with the Secretary-General. "There is a long journey ahead for Haiti," she said. "Right now the pressing task is humanitarian relief, but UNDP is poised to begin early recovery work, particularly in the form of cash for work, which forms part of OCHA’s flash appeal."
