GPECS: Regional Component

Supporting South-South cooperation and promoting regional knowledge development, exchanges and capacity

The activities implemented through the regional component are both substantively and regionally divided depending on the region and area of focus. Through GPECS UNDP will enhance the exchange of good practices between all regions South East Africa and West Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Arab States, Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe/CIS.The greatest emphasis will be on Africa, given it accounts for nearly half of all UNDP’s activities in elections. GPECS has three regional offices to facilitate better service delivery and responsiveness:

  • Dakar for West and Central Africa;
  • Johannesburg for Eastern and Southern Africa;
  • Bangkok for Asia-Pacific.

These offices will render both regional and country support and will coordinate, among other things, the expressions of interest and the implementation of all GPECS activities.
