There were several notable achievements in the 2011 first quarter in regards to Liberia's legal framework revision, including the following: amendments were approved to the voter registration regulations; the referendum regulations were finalized and approved; a memo note was drafted on legal challenges to the 2011 referendum and submitted for further analysis by senior management; and compilation of electoral legislation was finalised and submitted to the Board of Commissioners of the National Election Commission (NEC) for revision. GPECS also contributed to ongoing efforts to enhance women's participation in political leadership, including by helping draft a training manual on women's political participation and assisting in the preparation of a detailed plan for training of trainers for 490 female political aspirants in the five regions of Liberia. Training will commence in April 2011.
