UNDP Administrator meets with Tanzania Foreign Minister

Dar es Salaam - UNDP chief Helen Clark met today with Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Bernard Kamillius Membe, on the first day of a four day official visit to Tanzania. 

They discussed UNDP’s work supporting elections in Tanzania, including its work on voter registration and civic education in the run-up to national elections in October.

On Tuesday, Helen Clark will visit the National Electoral Commission and speak with recently registered voters who will vote for the first time. They also discussed Tanzania’s One UN programme and how it has improved UN initiatives in the country.

Tomorrow, Miss Clark will travel to Zanzibar to meet with the President of Zanzibar, Amani Abeid Karume. She will also tour the Jozani Forest which was protected through support from UNDP in 2007.
