Jun 25, 2009

Helen Clark finished up her visit to Washington, D.C. today on her first trip to a donor capital as UNDP Administrator. There, she met with members of Congress and their staffs, the Obama administration, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and representatives from the U.S.-based NGO community. Throughout her visit, she emphasized the many shared interests, the importance of continued U.S. support to UNDP, and specific areas of potential broader collaboration. Miss Clark also met with the Managing Director of the IMF and delivered the Secretary General’s message asking for the organization’s continuing support in strengthening the Gleneagles commitments agreed to by the G8 in 2005.
