Document Summary

The 2010 review of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) has shown that progress has been most successful in countries where economic growth is broad-based and widely distributed and where the government and the civil society are committed to achieving the MDGs. Policies and interventions targeting the rural sector and generating employment for the poor are particularly effective at promoting inclusive growth. Most often, a combination of policies and programmes is needed to ensure that growth benefits are shared by the poor and they reach different groups of vulnerable populations.
