This strategy aims at a re‐think of UNDP’s approach to South‐South and triangular cooperation (SSC and TrC) as development accelerators and multipliers. Its preparation has been driven by two key developments: first, the commitments made in the UNDP Strategic Plan (SP, 2014‐17) to employ SSC and TrC to help achieve development results that benefit programme countries; and, second, the Management Response to the Evaluation of UNDP’s Contribution to South‐South and Triangular Cooperation that commitsto the preparation of a corporate strategy. These developments have taken place against the backdrop of a radical transformation in the scope, scale and effects of cooperation between developing countries over the course of the past two decades, calling for a creative and considered response from the multilateral development system. As the leading development agency in the UN system, this is a demand that UNDP both understands and embraces wholeheartedly.
