2010 Global Programme Annual Report: Accelerating Access to Justice for Human Development: A UNDP Rule of Law Initiative

October 29, 2015

Rule of law and access to justice lie at the centre of UNDP’s mandate as essential to human development and the reduction of poverty. In recognition of the importance of rule of law and access to justice for enhancing human development, UNDP’s Bureau for Development Policy established the  Accelerating  Access to Justice for Human Development Global Programme – A UNDP Rule of Law Initiative (RoL-A2J   GP2010-2012) in 2009. It is part of UNDP’s broader effort to promote the rule of law  which includes the Global Progamme on Strengthening  the  Rule of Law in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations (2008-2011) implemented by the Bureau for Crisis Prevention and  Recovery. The RoL-A2J  GP works to realize UNDP’s strategic objective for “effective, responsive, accessible  and fair justice systems  promoting the rule of law, including both formal and informal processes, with due consideration to the rights of the poor, women and vulnerable groups." This 2010 Annual Report offers highlights on the key activities and achievements of the Global Programme.
