UNDP's work in countries affected by conflicts and disasters

In 2013, conflicts and disasters continued to test UNDP's ability to eradicate poverty and inequality.

This report shows how throughout the year, UNDP continued to help communities prevent crises, as well as to rebuild and recover from them. UNDP was instrumental from the Philippines, where mountains of debris were cleared in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, to Syria, where we helped communities cope with the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe. In 177 countries and alongside humanitarian agencies, UNDP has become a leader in addressing the long-term causes of conflicts and disasters, building resilience and strengthening sustainable development.
