OUR FOCUS

Peace

Governance

UNDP assists governments in strengthening their public institutions, to help countries fight corruption and support inclusive participation to ensure that no one is left behind. We support countries across a variety of contexts to enhance inclusive political processes and institutions.

Some of our key engagements include civic engagement and electoral cycle support in close cooperation with the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs; parliamentary development and supporting the advancement of women’s equal participation and decision-making in political processes and institutions. To ensure engagement and ownership in local governance and local development, UNDP supports countries and communities in the localization of the 2030 Agenda. We also work with young people, youth organizations and actors from civil society and private sector to governments, and members of the UN family to promote youth-focused and youth-led development through the Youth Global Programme for Sustainable Development and Peace. UNDP is committed to implementing the UN’s System-Wide Action Plan on Indigenous Peoples, and furthering Indigenous Peoples' rights through the 2030 Agenda. UNDP hosts the secretariat of the United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD), bringing together UN entities, governments, and organizations that advance the rights of persons with disabilities.
