This year’s report on progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) highlights several milestones. At the UN Millennium Summit in 2000, world leaders from 189 States, including Ukraine, adopted the United Nations Millennium Declaration, initiating the progress towards achieving by 2015 positive results in those areas where the inequality of global human development appeared to be most acute. UN Millennium Declaration is a commitment to achieve eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.

The internationally agreed framework of the MDGs contains 8 goals, 21 targets and 60 indicators to measure progress. The MDGs is a set of time-bound, quantitative targets representing a common vision for development.
