UNDP and key partners met to discuss how to mitigate the risks in the public procurement process following the completion of the new integrity risk assessment. The objective of the assessment was to determine the standard and performance of Thailand’s public procurement system and to identify and integrate relevant best practices.

Low political will and poor coordination hold back anti-corruption efforts in Asia and the Pacific, says new UNDP report
Corruption remains a major hurdle to human development in Asia and the Pacific, where strong national policies to tackle corruption are often faltering due to a lack of political will and poor coordination, says a new report published by the United Nations Development Programme today.

Findings from a recent university survey revealed that a majority of students can identify corruption and integrity, but feel they have no other choice than to participate in corruption when confronted with opportunities to gain an advantage.

Thirty-four Muslim women from Southern Thailand, used their new found skills in broadcasting journalism to direct and edit their own news reports on issues pertinent to their lives. The women’s first-ever citizen news reports were developed over a three-day media communications training held in Songkhla province, in collaboration with Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) and supported by UNDP in Thailand.

Thailand’s first report assessing the challenges facing and opportunities available for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities notes that LGBT people enjoy significant visibility in a generally tolerant and welcoming society. Nevertheless, LGBT people continue to encounter social stigma in various settings and are afforded limited job opportunities.

Now leader of a community environmental group, her initiatives are supported by UNDP Thailand's small grants programme, run in partnership with the Metropolitan Water Works Authority.
