    Students crowd Bangkok on Anti-Corruption Day, December 9

    Taking a personal stand against corruption, more than 1,500 university students from all over Thailand came by bus, by car, and by plane to meet at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) for a massive afternoon rally. The 3 p.m. rally was also the network’s first announcement to the public.

    Workshop to build health care capacity for HIV-related treatment in four ASEAN countries

    Student anti-corruption movement gains momentum

    “I realize the problem of corruption—there is a lot of it in Thailand, but I didn’t know what I could do," said a frustrated Sayuti Salam, a student at Prince of Songkhla University in Hat Yai. He’s now a minority. ABAC, a Thai polling firm recently reported that nearly two-thirds of Thai people hold the view that corruption in government is acceptable as long as they also benefit from it.

    UNDP kicks off second year of 'Water for People' partnership

    The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) kicked off the second year of their joint partnership on Friday, September 21 in Bangkok with a small ceremony.     Thailand and UNDP launch initiative to boost disaster management capacity

    In late 2011, flood waters swept through Thailand, affecting more than 11 million people. A year has passed since floodwaters inundated most of the country and metropolitan Bangkok, but the Royal Thai Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are determined to make the heavy toll of natural disasters a thing of the past. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and UNDP have launched a new initiative to boost the capacity of the Department to be able to respond to large-scale floods and other natural disasters.

    UNDP offers six-point plan to fast-track women in politics in Asia-Pacific

    BANGKOK— It will take 50 years for gender balance to be achieved in Asia-Pacific national legislatures if the increase in women’s participation in parliaments remains at the current pace, says a UN Development Programme (UNDP) study released this week. Economic progress will be limited without equal opportunity for men and women to influence political and economic decision-making, according to the report, which offers a six-step action plan to fast-track women into politics.

    As many as 10,000 junior Thai police officers per year will soon receive education on HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination due to a new partnership signed today, 17 September, by the Royal Thai Police, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Foundation for AIDS Rights and the Department of Rights Protection of Ministry of Justice.
