Fostering Strengthening of Tajikistan’s Environmental Policy on Reduction of Mercury Pollution and Human Health Protection

One of the most important objectives of the project “Fostering Strengthening of Tajikistan’s Environmental Policy on Reduction of Mercury  Pollution and Human Health Protection” which is implementing by the NGO "Foundation to Support Civil Initiatives" (FSCI, Dastgiri Center) with support of GEF SGP, IPEN and GRID Arendal is the formation of environmental policies aimed at reducing mercury emissions and use of  mercury-containing materials in the Republic  of Tajikistan. The recommendations, which will be developed as a result of the project, will be used to make additions to the important strategic documents of sustainable development, the development of regulations in the legislation on chemical  safety in the National Action Plan/mercuric waste management for the implementation of the Stockholm Convention in the Republic of Tajikistan (it  was ratified by the Republic of Tajikistan in 2006).
