Support to Inclusive Growth and Trade Capacity Development

Programme Description

This project is designed to support the Government’s efforts to create an enabling environment for private sector development by raising productivity in non-oil export sectors as well as making economic growth more inclusive.  It builds on UNDP’s past support and collaboration in building inclusive financial services in South Sudan, creating opportunities for youth employment and improved livelihoods, and strengthening institutional capacity for private sector development.

The project will include supporting more coordinated efforts in trade policy development through the Enhanced Integrated Framework for Trade Related Technical Assistance by strengthening inter-ministerial coordination mechanisms in order to promote and diversify export products in key growth sectors and increase foreign investments in line with the South Sudan Development Plan.

In order to achieve the overall objective, the project will focus on three main outputs:

Output 1: Improved policy and regulatory environment for inclusive growth;

Output 2: Strengthened capacity for trade development and enhanced value chain analysis; and

Output 3: Expanded access to financial services and employment opportunities particularly for women and youth
