    The Romanian government, through UNDP, supports recovery from floods in municipalities of Kladovo, Majdanpek and Negotin

    The new project funded by the Romanian government, which will be implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will support the rehabilitation of municipal sewage and water supply systems, cleaning of individual wells and other facilities important for the safe and secure water supply in municipalities of Kladovo, Majdanpek and Negotin. These municipalities are still recovering from the damages caused to communal systems and individual wells during this year's devastating floods.

    The UNDP in Serbia in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Q-Club NGO will be expanding VCT (for “Voluntary Counseling and Testing”) for HIV during the European HIV Testing week. The campaign will be held the week of Nov. 24-28.     UNDP Showcases Progress for New Homes of Flood Victims

    The UNDP in Serbia welcomed Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and HE Ambassador Juma Rashid Al Dhaheri of the United Arab Emirates to Krupanj, to inspect the progress of new homes that are being built under the supervision of the UNDP. The UNDP is nearing the completion of its project for 17 homes to be constructed for families who lost their homes in the historic floods of May. The project is financed by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation of the United Arab Emirates.

    A community workshop on hygiene and health care with 33 Roma children was organized on 1st November in Blazevo settlement in Novi Pazar. School-aged children participated in various tasks during the day, addressing hygiene and health issues in their environment.     UNDP Makes Protected Areas Fun for Hiking - A Step for Sustainable Development

    UNDP Serbia is helping Serbia to provide more sustainability to its protected areas by promoting greater use of its natural treasures for tourists locally and from abroad. The opening of hiking trails in these areas is part of that effort. Through the GEF funded project “Ensuring financial sustainability of the protected area system of Serbia”, UNDP has launched pilot activities, to increase the development of nature-based tourism and self-sufficiency of non-timber forest resources in four national parks and six other protected areas. In addition, the UNDP project is meant to improve the accessibility of protected areas to enable people with disabilities to enjoy nature while learning about the environment.
