    The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has been recognized as the most transparent development organization worldwide, according to a newly released global ranking. The 2014 Aid Transparency Index recognized UNDP for its "commendable performance" in publishing information beyond international standards this year, placing it first out of 68 major agencies evaluated around the world.

    Public Hearings in Zrenjanin : InnovativeTools for Public Participation

    UNDP in Serbia handed over the IT equipment worth over 3,000 EUR to the City of Zrenjanin. The equipment will be used for enhancing innovative means of communication such as Twitter and other social media, as well as for citizens’ participation in the work of the local Assembly.

    Presentation of the Eighth Corruption Benchmarking Survey in Serbia

    The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in cooperation with CeSID LtD, presented the Eighth Corruption Benchmarking Survey at today’s press conference in the Media Centre Belgrade. This research cycle confirmed the optimism and a conviction of citizens that the authorities intend to curb corruption. However, the living standard, unemployment and poverty have again diverted attention of citizens away from corruption. Corruption fell third on the list of the most important problems which citizens face.

    Another 17,000 Small Arms and Light Weapons Destroyed in Serbia - a total of 110,000 since 2003

    Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia (MoI) together with the UNDP/SEESAC organized a public destruction of yet another 17,000 pieces of confiscated and surplus small arms and light weapons (SALW) that were in the possession of the MoI. This was the last such destruction under the EU supported Arms Control Activities in the Western Balkans project implemented by UNDP/SEESAC since 2010, which envisaged a disposal of 40,000 pieces of SALW. With today’s destruction this target has been surpassed by over 5,000 pieces.
