Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms have been introduced and developed around the world for a number of decades. The objective of this paper is to identify the quantitative costs and benefits and qualitative
benefits of using ADR mechanisms by drawing conclusions from the theory and comparative practice in order to list recommendations and focus issues for consideration in the process of the development of an ADR system in Serbia.
