Seoul Debates 2017: Lessons Learnt from Addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) From Korea and Around the World (Resource Book)

March 17, 2017

An important part of UNDP’s GBV programming has focused on legal and policy frameworks particularly in the area of law reform to address different forms of GBV as a public policy matter, often for the first time in respective countries’ legal histories (see Sri Lanka case example). In a number of countries, UNDP support has been instrumental in reforming existing legislation to address a broader range of forms of GBV. Often working together with other UN agencies, UNDP has played an important role in strengthening the development and implementation of national strategies and action plans on GBV (see Papua New Guinea case example), as well as supporting better integration of GBV issues into national strategies on gender equality (see Albania case example).
