UNDP Seoul Policy Centre discusses country-level collaboration with GGGI

The Director of UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC), Dr. Balazs Horvath, met with the Director General of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Mr. Yvo de Boer to discuss collaboration between the two organizations at the country level.

In his remarks, Dr. Horvath highlighted UNDP’s global presence in some 170 countries and territories to help achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. UNDP’s work focuses on three main areas: sustainable development, inclusive and democratic government, and climate and disaster resilience. He highlighted the need for greater synergy between the work of the two organizations at the country level.

Mr. de Boer described some of GGGI’s ongoing work, most notably the upcoming Global Green Growth Week to be held in Jeju, Republic of Korea on 5-9 September, 2016. UNDP will present its work during various sessions of the week-long event, as well as host an exhibit booth at the knowledge fair. They also discussed areas of mutual interest, including UNDP’s work on inclusive green economy under the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) initiative.

Other participants in the meeting included Dr. Sarwat Chowdhury, UNDP Green Economy Policy Specialist, and Mr. Per Bertilsson, Assistant Director General of GGGI. The meeting took place at GGGI in Seoul on 2 August, 2016.
