New Director takes helm of the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre
Mr. Alvaro Pinto Scholtbach has joined the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre as Director a.i.
He joins from the UNDP Regional Centre for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States in Bratislava, Slovakia, where he served as co-ordinator of the Democratic Governance team.
Mr Pinto Scholtbach joined the United Nations Development Programme in 2009. Since then he has also served as co-ordinator of the Democratic Governance team at the Regional Bureau for Latin America & Caribbean at UNDP's Headquarters in New York.
Previously he was co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy in The Hague and International Secretary of the Labour Party of the Netherlands.
He is a political scientist by training, with a specialization in international relations and institutional development.
He has published on politics and development in different countries and regions, most recently on Latin America. Recently he co-authored and co-ordinated the creation of UNDP's Global Democratic Governance Report that will be launched in 2013.
Mr Pinto Scholtbach takes over from Ms. Anne-Isabelle Degryse-Blateau.
