UNDP and Korea - Joint Development Action

UNDP and Korea support social business in Timor-Leste

Together UNDP and Korea are helping empower lives and build more resilient nations.

Korea contributes to UNDP core funding and the country's development agency, KOICA, works closely with UNDP around the world.

Currently we work with Korea on three main tracks:

With the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and KOICA we work on the Joint Korea-UNDP Millennium Development Goal Trust Fund. Projects under the Fund help some of the least economically developed countries boost their efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals, including cutting poverty and building resilience against shocks, particularly those caused by climate change.

The Joint Trust Fund operates under the Millennium Development Goal Acceleration Framework, which provides a systematic way for countries to develop their own action plans to pursue their MDG priorities.

Together UNDP and Korea support women’s economic empowerment and gender equality. With the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Korea Institute for Gender Equality Promotion & Education (KIGEPE) we assist policy makers in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region ensure economic policies and poverty reduction strategies address the needs of women, men girls and boys equitably.

UNDP has begun working with the Korean private sector on awareness raising and advocating for the fight against poverty. We very much look forward to more work together on the ground.

UNDP works to develop its partnerships with Korean partners in all areas to support efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals.
