Joint Development Action

03 Jun 2013

Together UNDP and Korea are helping empower lives and build more resilient nations.

With the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KOICA, Korea’s development agency, we help some of the least economically developed countries cut poverty and build resilience against shocks, particularly those caused by climate change through projects under the Joint Korea-UNDP Millennium Development Goal Trust Fund.

The Joint Trust Fund operates under the Millennium Development Goal Acceleration Framework, which helps countries develop their own action plans to pursue their development priorities.

Together UNDP and Korea support women’s economic empowerment and gender equality. We help policy-makers in countries in the Asia-Pacific region ensure economic policies and poverty reduction strategies address the needs of women, men girls and boys equitably. We work with Korea’s Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Korea Institute for Gender Equality Promotion & Education (KIGEPE).

UNDP has begun working with the Korean private sector on awareness raising and advocating for the fight against poverty. We look forward to more work together on the ground.

UNDP works to develop its partnerships with Korean partners in all areas to support efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals.

Korea contributes to UNDP core funding and the country's development agency, KOICA, works closely with UNDP around the world.
