At the end of October 2013, Ambassadors from the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries in the United Nations, their key negotiators from respective capitals, civil society representatives, and UN System agencies from the region met in an Autumn Retreat on the Post-2015 Agenda. The retreat was sponsored by the UN Development Group for Latin America and the Caribbean with the participation of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

For this key high-level discussion, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) commissioned an independent paper from New York University's Center on International Coopertaion (CIC). This document explores the post-2015 agenda from the point of view of Latin American and Caribbean countries, discussing the region's challenges between 2015 and 2030, and how these might be addressed by a new global development framework. The paper provides an analysis of opportunities and obstacles to agreeing on a post-2015 agenda that will benefit the region, while also exploring ways in which countries might influence this agenda.
