UNDP Sudan issues statement regarding media reports on east Sudan

 Khartoum,  The United Nations Development  Programme (UNDP) in Sudan categorically denies association with information published in several media outlets under the title ‘Sudan: security ‘volcano’ ready to blow in the east,’ No UNDP Sudan staff has made such statements. Journalistic norms, therefore, requires that any media outlet that has published such information should disassociate UNDP from these articles.

Believing that the stability of East Sudan, socially, economically and from a development point of view, contributes to sustainable human development, UNDP Sudan has undertaken several development projects in East Sudan in response to the government priorities and the needs of the people, all aimed at improving the quality of life of the people of East Sudan.

UNDP Sudan, established in 1965, has supported the people and the government of Sudan in their endeavor to achieve sustainable peace throughout the country. UNDP Sudan looks forward to the continuation of this strong partnership in the years to come, in order to achieve the aspirations of the people of Sudan for sustainable human development and prosperity.
