Launching of Civil Courts System in Daraa

28 Nov 2010

Daraa – Under the patronage of H.E. Ahmed Hammoud Younes, the Minister of Justice, and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, the new Civil Courts System in Daraa will be officially launched within the framework of the UNDP Project “Modernization of the Justice Sector” implemented by the Ministry of Justice and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Embassy of the Netherlands.

The project aims to support the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Justice in case management and processing, through the introduction of a new automation system to facilitate more efficient access to case information and enhanced interaction between the judiciary and citizens.

The main objectives of the project are to design a user-friendly case management system which would automate court procedures to ensure quick and transparent access to information for Court personnel and citizens. This includes randomization of case assignments, as well as a mechanism for follow up on case processing and includes creating a Digital Archive of court documents for easy reference. Project also implemented capacity development and training for Judges and Court personnel on the use of the new system.

A presentation and demonstration of the designed automation system will be held in the Cultural Center of Daraa at 11 am, and will be followed by the official opening and launch of the Courts at the Main Courthouse.
