Inauguration of mobile health clinic in Bethlehem with funds from the Governments of Italy, Belgium and UNDP
The clinic aims at improving the Palestinian population’s access to primary healthcare services in Area C through innovative eco-sustainable infrastructure solutions. The establishment of a mobile health clinic that has a minimal-environmental impact, transportable with an alternative folding mechanism will allow for it to reach several communities in the area.

European Union and UNDP sign a € 2.4 million agreement with Al Quds University to preserve Palestinian cultural heritage
Jerusalem –In the presence of Mr Michael Köhler, Director for Neighbourhood at the European Commission's DG DEVCO and UNDP Special Representative of the Administrator Mr Frode Mauring, the European Union and UNDP signed a contribution agreement worth € 2.4 million in an effort to safeguard cultural heritage in the old city of Jerusalem.

UN agencies and partners launch largest ever humanitarian appeal for Syrians: US$4.4 billion needed for emergency aid for 2013
Geneva - Millions of ordinary men, women and children are bearing the brunt of the brutal conflict in Syria, said Emergency Relief Coordinator, Valerie Amos and High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres, as they appealed today for an additional US$3.1 billion to meet growing humanitarian needs in Syria and among refugees in the surrounding region this year. The total requirements for the whole of 2013 are $4.4 billion.

Sana'a - The United Kingdom, Sweden and Japan announced today a contribution of US $15,200,000 in support of the coming voter registration, Referendum and electoral process in Yemen. This support will be channeled through the Multi-donors Basket Fund, administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and will serve to bolster the implementation of the Support to the Elections during the Transitional Period (SETP) project in Yemen.

Mogadishu, Somalia – Every year, a staggering quarter of a million tonnes of charcoal is exported from Somalia to Gulf countries. To produce this amount, 4.4 million trees are cut down, and 72,900 hectares of land cleared. In a country already prone to natural disasters such as flooding and drought, the impact this has on the natural environment and the people who rely on it for their livelihoods has proven devastating.
