60 trainees complete business skills workshops in Jordanian governorates affected by the Syrian crisis
UNDP and Ruwwad Micro-Venture Fund (RMVF) organized a graduation ceremony at the Greater Municipality Hall in Mafraq, for 60 trainees who successfully completed the first two rounds of “Planning your own Small Business” Training Workshops, as part of the “Mitigating the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on the Jordanian Host Communities" Project.
Under the patronage of the Minister of Municipalities Affaires, Engineer Waleed al Masri, UNDP and Japan Embassy handed over new solid waste compactors to Mafraq and Irbid governorates; specifically to Sabha and Al Dafyaneh, Um Jmal, AL-Salheyah and al Mafraq Municipalities located in Mafraq governorate and in Al Ramtha, Irbid municipalities located in Irbid governorate. The ceremony took place in Sabha and al Dafyaneh municipality in Mafraq on Tuesday, August 26. Attended the event; Ambassador of Japan, UNDP country Director, Mafraq and Irbid Governors and Director of the Local development directorate in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Visit of the United Nations Development Programme Administrator and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to Lebanon
Beirut, Ms. Helen Clark, United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Chair of the United Nations Development Group (UNDG) and Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will arrive in Lebanon on Sunday 14 September 2014.
Amman, 14 October – Today the regional leadership of the United Nations Development Group met in Amman and confirmed its support for the Arab States, Middle East and North Africa region at the critical juncture it faces.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) today signed in Erbil an Operational Framework agreeing to pilot together resilience-based approaches in a number of areas hosting Syrian refugees in Iraq.

The Waldensian Church in Italy signed a Cost-Sharing Agreement (CSA) with UNDP on Tuesday September 30 2014, donating $ 650,000 to the aid of the Lebanese host communities. This very generous contribution through the Lebanon Host Community Support project (LHSP), the joint project between UNDP and the Ministry of Social affairs in Lebanon (MOSA), will be a great support and will improve host communities life conditions, as well as help fund interventions on social inclusion between host communities and Syrian Refugees.
Berlin, Germany– The United States has pledged $10 million to the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) project supporting Syrian refugees who have fled to host communities in neighbouring countries. Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard announced the pledge at the “Conference on Syrian Refugee Situation – supporting stability in the region” hosted today in Berlin, Germany.
