MDG reports and strategies

With assistance from UNDP and other UN agencies, almost all 22 Arab states have produced at least one MDGs National Report. The total number of national MDGs reports produced in the region is around 40 reports. In addition to monitoring progress, these reports analysed what is needed and recommended specific policies, strategies and plans to achieve the MDGS.

Projects & Initiatives

Empowering & Connecting the Community through ICT in Egypt (2007)

The objective of this project is to strengthen the efforts of the government of Egypt in cooperation with various stakeholders in the process of building the nation’s information society. The project would help produce the following outputs: a) universal access policies and strategies developed and upgraded, b) ICT applications supported; c) innovation enhanced, d) legal and regulatory enabling environment created, e) human resources training and development supported, and, f) knowledge sharing and internal management support systems established. more

Dahshour Community Development in Egypt (2009)

The Joint Programme seeks to support the reduction of human development disparities, with special reference to addressing the gender gap and achieving environmental sustainability. Dahshour project has served a total of 4417 women in the Dahshour community providing them with training to build their capacity at the institutional local and national level. The project has also provided women with awareness raising workshops and engaged them in dialogues for information sharing. The project has created socioeconomic opportunities for 275 women, in addition the project has also supported women in strengthening cultural/community centers and museums. more

Gender and Economic Empowerment Project in Yemen (2010)

The project contributes to the economic and social empowerment of women and youth, improved livelihoods, rights, and gender sensitive policy support. It aims to empower socially and economically disadvantaged women and youth -the primary beneficiaries to be empowered are some 1,200 economically and socially disadvantaged women and youth (70 percent women and 30 percent male youth respectively- in market oriented technical, entrepreneurial and managerial skills, confidence building and empowering skills, necessary to improve their access to productive resources and sustainable earning potential. more
