    Dialogue on Future of Federalism and Democratic Devolution

    the Centre for Civic Education in Pakistan (CCEP) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) organized a dialogue with Pakistan’s mandate-bearing political parties on the Future of Federalism and Democratic Devolution in Pakistan. The aim of this exchange was to understand the perspectives of political parties on federalism and devolved governance following the passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment, and the monumental shift in the federal architecture of Pakistan brought about by it.

    Beacon of hope for underprivileged girls across the world

    She has become a beacon of hope for underprivileged girls across the world. Malala Yousufzai, a young Pakistani girl, has become an advocate for educating all children and has defied the odds and death threats from the Taliban. Malala who now lives in the U.K., following attacks on her life in Pakistan, recently addressed the UN assembly. She urged world leaders to change their strategic policies in to address issues of peace and prosperity.

    Making Justice Accessible to All

    Marc-André Franche, Country Director, UNDP in Pakistan, visited Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to review the activities for the project Strengthening Rule of Law in Malakand. This project is assisting in promoting the rule of law through provision of support to the justice and security sectors in Malakand division. The activities are currently in place in seven districts of Malakand including upper and lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner and Chitral.

    EU event to extract lessons learned from Pakistan floods

    On 26 June, EU’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments organized the event The EU and Flood Recovery: Lessons Learnt for the Next Disaster in Pakistan in Brussels. Following the worst floods in Pakistan’s history in 2010, the complex needs of the affected population were addressed through various EU assistance measures.

    Photo Exhibition on Post Floods Road to Recovery

    A photo exhibition displaying UNDP’s recovery work for the communities affected by the floods in 2010 was held at the National Press Club in Washington DC. These photographs, taken by Satomi Kato, draw attention to the plight of the people who suffered from the devastating floods.
