1.      PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: Consultancy: Dialogue/Conferences/Jirga on Peace Building in FATA 

 2.      SCOPE AND METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH STUDY: The dialogue/Jirga will deliberate on the causes of militancy, its implication on FATA that affected every segment of society in every aspect be it a political, social, economic, religious and cultural. The main outcome of the program that the dialogue/Jirga would like to focus on is the causes of conflicts, its implication on society in general and poor, marginalized and females in particular and recommendation for the sustainable and lasting peace in FATA.

Under the supervision of Program coordinator, peace and Development, the consultant will coordinate with the relevant government authorities, tribal leaders, youth and experts on FATA and will conduct Dialogue/Jirga analyze, evaluate and proposed actions/measures to strengthen  peace building and social cohesion. This will provide important information on issues that contribute to violence and reactivating the conflict drivers. This will also provide an opportunity to meet and develop relations with traditional leadership, administration and experts on FATA understanding the dynamics of conflict and strengthening services for citizens in the area. Finally the Dialogue/Jirga will help CPRU in its programme planning by providing the foundation for strategic operational planning, assessing if the programme meet the needs of the community and determining what interventions should be launched to provide new opportunities to peace building and sustainable development.

Period of assignment/services (if applicable):

Completion time for this assignment is one month starting from 20th November 2013.

Pakistan's One UN Programme (OP I) was signed on 4 February 2009 in the presence of the UN Secretary General and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Initially for a two-year period from 2009 to 2010, OP I was extended until December 2012 by mutual agreement of the Government of Pakistan and the UN.
