UNDAF 2013-2017 has been signed by the Government and the UN. Micro-enterprise Trade Fairs were held in Kathmandu and Kavre. Nineteen more bird species have been found in MohanaKailali Corridor. National Youth Festival 2012 was organized. LRP and UNIRP projects have enabled several people to start income generating activities. The Micro-enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP) has helped 53,000 entrepreneurs enhance their careers. The UN Interagency Rehabilitation Programme (UNIRP) is providing rehabilitation support to Maoist ex-combatants. The Government’s Local Governance and Community Development Programme (LGCDP), supported by 6 UN agencies has been working to institutionalize systems and mechanisms in place for decentralized and inclusive local governance. About 35 experts and participants from 17 countries in the Asia Pacific region shared their crisis response strategies, progress and the shortcomings to cope with natural disasters, during the 2-day International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) Asia Pacific Regional Meeting held in Kathmandu.UNDP’s Public Private Partnership for Urban Environment (PPPUE) project has supported four Municipalities of Nepal to manage their wastes. Local Governance Community Development Programme (LGCDP) has been empowering women involved inlocal governance. A newly constructed Electoral Education and Information Center (EEIC) was inaugurated by the Right Honourable President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav. Through Livelihood Recovery for Peace (LRP) project's support, 6003 disadvantaged households have received seed grant to start income generation activities. With the support of United Nations Interagency Rehabilitation Programme (UNIRP), hundreds of ex-combatants have rehabilitated into their society. An orientation session on Do No Harm was provided by the Conflict Prevention Programme(CPP) to some government officials through the Nepal Administrative Staff College. In order to register missed voters, the ‘voter registration’ and ‘out of district registration’ processes are being continued.UNDP’s Renewable Energy for Rural Livelihood (RERL) has enabled several developments in Baglung. The UNDP Nepal Country Office received a high level Afghan government delegation as part of South South cooperation.UNDP through its Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Programme (CDRMP) has been organising trainings, workshops and awareness programs for planners, policy makers and implementers so that the country has robust pro-active and reactive capacities for dealing with natural disasters. With support from UNDP’s Public Private Partnership for Urban Environment (PPPUE) project, these days Butwal’s main market area is illuminated with 48 solar lights. Micro-enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP) has enabled thousands of rural poor people to start their own enterprises. The planners and engineers of Nepal working in government offices and municipalities are receiving e-training on Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning (RSLUP) supported by UNDP Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Programme (CDRMP) and the National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET). UNDP's Livelihood Recovery for Peace (LRP) project has created a wave of social transformations. With the support of UNDP Election Support Project (ESP), the signatures, fingerprints and photographs of 10.19 million voters have been digitally captured. UNDP Micro-enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP) and AusAID have ventured on a new partnership (AUD 3.1 million or US$ 3.3 m) to reduce poverty in Nepal. 40 Maoist ex-combatants completed Community Medical Assistant and Lab Assistant course offered by the UN Interagency Rehabilitation Programme (UNIRP). ‘Collaborative Leadership and Dialogue’, a new initiative of UNDP in Nepal under the umbrella of Conflict Prevention Programme started training for Nepal’s political party leaders and civil society members. Safe construction and retrofitting trainings for local masons has started in 12 districts of east Nepal. Her Excellency Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Ms. Susan Grace visited Sindhuli (central region) to observe a mini exhibition of the micro- entrepreneurs promoted by the UNDP Micro-Enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP). Nepal commemorated the 14th National Earthquake Safety Day. UN Interagency Rehabilitation Programme (UNIRP) has helped the Maoist ex-combatants rehabilitate as Health Assistants. The “State of the World’s Volunteerism Report 2011” was launched on International Volunteers Day. UNDP's Livelihood Recovery for Peace project (LRP) has provided seed grant to 10,710 disadvantaged and poor households to start income generating activities. The Solid Waste Management and Community Mobilization Programme, a waste collection and recycling initiative of over 1,000 households and businesses run by Nepalese women has become the winner of global SEED award in the category of gender equality. The UNDP Western Terai Landscape Complex Project (WTLCP) has been promoting Mentha and Camomile cultivation near the protected and buffer-zone areas for the last five years. Download PDF
