  • Micro Enterprise Development Programme (Phase III)

    The Micro enterprise Development Programme is creating employment and income opportunities for the rural poor by providing skill and business training and other support, mainly for women and poor and disadvantaged people to set up micro-enterprises; helping establish business support services and representative organisations for micro-entrepreneurs; and working with the government to improve the policy environment.

  • Livelihoods Recovery for Peace Project

    In 2009, the Livelihood Recovery for Peace project (LRP) was launched in the three poorest and most conflict-affected districts of the Terai. Sarlahi, Mahottari and Rautahat are the districts where poverty, conflict and natural disasters most hinder development.

  • Strengthening Planning and Monitoring Capacity of NPC

    The Strengthening Planning and Monitoring Capacity of NPC project is supporting the apex national planning body to make Nepal’s planning and monitoring development results-oriented, evidence-based, MDG sensitive and gender and social inclusion responsive.

  • Enhancing Access to Financial Services

    The Enhancing Access to Financial Services (EAFS) project is extending access to formal financial services for micro and small enterprises and low income households in line with the Government of Nepal's banking and microfinance sectors- the Nepal Rastra Bank with support from UNDP and UNCDF.

  • Public Private Partnership for Urban Environment

    Since 2002 the Public-Private Partnerships for Urban Environment project has worked with the Ministry of Local Development, municipalities and the private sector (FNCCI and district and city chambers of commerce) under the PPPUE project to build an enabling policy environment and the human resources to implement public private partnerships.

OUR WORK - POVERTY REDUCTION

UNDP in Nepal promotes inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods through the ongoing Micro-enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP), Livelihood Recovery for Peace (LRP) and Enhancing Access to Financial Services projects (EAFS). These projects have helped to bring about improved policies and institutional frameworks for inclusive growth whilst directly benefitting tens of thousands of community people through skill training, short term employment, improved local infrastructure and improved access to financial services.
