  • Renewable Energy for Rural Livelihood

    The RERL project started in April 2011 to as an extension of the successful partnership between the government and UNDP in the renewable energy sector to consolidate the best practices from REDP and continue scaling up access to energy.

    The overall goal of the project is to ensure maintenance and enhancement of wetland biodiversity and environmental goods and services for improved local livelihoods in Nepal.

  • GEF Small Grant Programme

    Since it was set up in 1996, the Nepal Small Grants Programme has funded 102 local initiatives for environmental conservation.

  • Ecosystem based Adaptation in Mountain Ecosystems in Nepal

    The Ecosystem Based Adaptation (EBA) Project for mountain Ecosystems is a global project being implemented in Nepal, Peru and Uganda, and aims to strengthen the capacity of these countries, which are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts, in ecosystem based adaptation approaches. The project targets to strengthen the resiliency of ecosystems within these countries and reduce the vulnerability of local communities with particular emphasis on mountain ecosystems.

  • Western Terai Landscape Complex Project

    The overall objective of WTLCP is to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of globally significant biodiversity in Nepal’s Western Terai Landscape Complex (WTLC).

UNDP’s support is helping mitigate and reduce the impact of these threats and provide the rural poor with clean renewable energy and environment friendly livelihoods. A key part of UNDP’s support across these areas is promoting pro-poor environmental management, risk reduction, and climate change adaptation at the national and local levels.
