    International Volunteer Day 2014

    The IVD mandated by the UN General Assembly, is held each year on 5 December. The purpose of the IVD is to recognize the commitment of volunteers and volunteer organizations, to inform people about the impact of volunteering on peace and sustainable development, and to applaud volunteers for their dedication and impact. In particular, IVD 2014 recognizes and celebrates volunteerism, with a special focus on honoring people’s participation in making a difference at all levels: locally, nationally and globally.

    Government of Mongolia is working on the institutionalization of macroeconomic Modeling T21 developed by Millennium Institute and it aims to identify integrated and comprehensive medium to long term development planning and to generate scenarios of socio-economic indicators using a system dynamic method. Within this framework, utilization of T21 model in Mongolia became available with the funding from the UNDP through “Strengthening the government capacity of national development policy and planning” Project.

    UNDP projects were presented at the Open Day organized by MoFA

    As it was invited by the Department of International Organization of the MoFA, the Capacity Development for the Micro Insurance Market Project of UNDP together with Financial Regulartory Committee has introduced its activities to the public. The participating individuals were interested about micro insurance services particularly about insurance schemes of the gher, of individual houses. Project staff members have briefed about the micro insurance products and project activities to around 300 individuals and distributed over thousands handout materials and brochures.

    The First Ever Induction Training for All Local Elected Representatives

    The 3-day Induction training for all local elected representatives started on 17 February 2014 in Bulgan, Dundgobi and Dornod aimags. The training is being organized by aimag council (hural) secretariats under the project “Capacity Strengthening of Local Self-Governing Bodies”. A total of over 900 elected representatives of these 3 aimags are attending the training, which covers seven key topics: Legal environment, hural procedures, public participation, human rights and gender, and environment and green development.

    Insurance enrollment rates are increased as people understand its importance

    nsurance is a primary tool for the prevention of various contingencies that life can throw at us, as well as sharing of damages and losses that can incur should an incidence of natural disaster or any other unforeseen circumstance occur. Therefore, awareness raising becomes of utmost importance, so that the population understands the importance of having insurance policies. One such awareness-raising exercise has been “Insurance in Our Lives” workshop organized in Dornod aimag.
