Building Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP)

Goal

The goal of the project is the reduction in the annual growth rate of GHG emissions from the building sector in Mongolia. The Building Energy Efficiency Project will contribute to the reduction of GHG emissions through the transformation of the Mongolian buildings market towards more energy-efficient building technologies and services, sustainable private house insulation and energy efficiency financing mechanisms.

The project objective is the improvement of the energy utilization efficiency in Mongolian buildings by improving the energy efficiency levels of new construction sector buildings and by improving the energy efficiency of new and existing ger and private houses in urban areas.

Outcomes and outputs

The proposed BEEP has following three Outcomes that focus on the reduction in the annual growth rate of GHG emissions from the buildings sector. For achieving these outcomes, the project will produce certain outputs under each of them:

Outcome 1: Energy saving policy in the construction sector of Mongolia is realized with higher degree of enforcement and application of range of newly adopted energy efficiency technologies.

  • Output 1: Energy Saving Policy and Institutional Development enhanced
  • Output 2: Modern energy efficient construction technologies applied.

Outcome 2: Energy conservation principals are well understood by homeowners and professionals, and applied in the construction sector.

  • Output 3: Energy Conservation knowledge of homeowners, construction sector professionals, and relevant government personnel enhanced.

Outcome 3: Market-oriented financing mechanisms for improved energy efficiency are operational.

  • Output 4: Financing Support provided to those interested in energy efficiency in their dwellings.
