UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Field Visit to the Bekaa Valley

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is organizing a field visit to the Bekaa Valley for the newly appointed Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon, Mr. Ross Mountain. Mr. Mountain will be accompanied by representatives from the humanitarian community (UNHCR, UNRWA, UNDP, WFP, OCHA, UNICEF, and INGOs) and will be visiting the tented settlements for Syrian refugees and monitoring the ongoing humanitarian and development efforts.  

In response to the Syrian crisis and the increasing influx of Syrian refugees to Lebanon, the UN supports Syrian refugees’ and Lebanese hosting communities who have been affected from the social and economic impacts of the Syrian conflict on Lebanon.

Mr. Ross Mountain, was recently appointed as the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator and Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lebanon. Mr. Mountain arrived in Beirut on Saturday 1 February.
