UNDP Kuwait’s Country Office, in partnership with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, has successfully completed the training of 80 women religious leaders - empowering the participants to effectively and creatively address the developmental challenges in Kuwait.

UNDP consultants implemented the transformational leadership methodology to allow the participants to explore and suggest creative responses to enhance social coherence, address women’s rights, deal with the environmental challenges facing Kuwait, address youth resiliency and effectively deal with extremism.

These were the five priorities agreed upon at the technical experts’ meeting which initiated the Religious Leaders and Inclusive Development Project in April 2012.

The Women Religious Leaders’ Workshop and the Religious Media Workshop are key components to this initiative.

The project will continue to unfold aiming at developing a religious discourse that is faithful to the culture of Kuwait while successfully engaging in the developmental challenges of today.
