Visit of Director Cihan Sultanoglu
Ms. Cihan Sultanoglu, UN Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Assistant Administrator, and Regional Director for Europe and CIS visited Kosovo from 2 to 5 February 2014. Ms. Sultanoglu's visit included meetings with President Jahjaga, Assembly Speaker Krasniqi, Deputy PM Kuçi, Ministers Rexhepi, Yagcilar and Çitaku, Head of UNMIK, members of the UN Kosovo Team, as well as other high-level government officials and diplomatic representatives.
During her meeting with UNDP staff, Ms. Sultanoglu commended the work of UNDP in Kosovo: “This is a good moment to be in Kosovo to meet with local and international partners. I am impressed with the work you are doing strengthen local capacities for promoting inclusive growth, democratic governance and the protection of environment”.
During her visit Ms. Sultanoglu participated at a high level conference during which priorities for security sector reform were discussed. She also visited the municipality of Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje to discuss the results of a joint UN initiative for strengthening human security at the local level.
UNDP has been active in Kosovo for almost 15 years and has earned a strong reputation as an independent and experienced partner in the effort to rebuild Kosovo and build local capacities for growth and development, in line with Kosovar priorities.
