Leaflets and Brochures About Preparation to the Potential Emergency Situations Were Spread Among the Population of Southeast and East Kazakhstan

Leaflets and brochures aimed at raising awareness of the high importance of preparedness to the disasters and risk reduction were produced and spread among Southeast and East Kazakhstan population under the framework of the joint project of UNDP/EC/MoES of the Republic of Kazakhstan: «DIPECHO VII: Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction in South-East and East Kazakhstan».

More than 30,000 units of brochures and leaflets were handed over to the branches of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Almaty region, Eskeldi rayon and Tekeli, as well as to the Akimats of Tekeli and two villages of  the Eskeldi rayon, namely Syrymbet and Karabulak for spread among the population.

The leaflets "Earthquake", "Flood and Flood Waters", "Family Plan for preparation to an earthquake" call the population for preparedness to the emergency situations, the brochure "Everyone Should Know" contains practical advices for every family on how to behave in case of natural and man-made disaster situations.

Project «DIPECHO VII: Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction in South-East and East Kazakhstan» funded by the Directorate-General For Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection of European Commission (ECHO), UNDP in Kazakhstan and Red Crescent Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan performs works on disaster risk reduction at national and oblast levels, with practical work conducted among population of Tekeli town in Almaty Oblast, and population residing near Semey city, in the region with the high flood threat, and population of mountainous area not far from Oskemen city. One of the key areas of work is to raise population’s awareness of high importance of disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
