Regional Awareness Raising Workshops on Human Rights Protection Mechanisms in the Republic of Kazakhstan
Almaty, 15 August 2013 United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Justice will organise a workshop for state officials and representatives of non-governmental organizations in the framework of the joint project “Improving human rights protection mechanisms and facilitating effective implementation of UPR recommendations in the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
This seminar will open a series of regional activities aimed at raising awareness on realization of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) recommendations and on implementation of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) in Kazakhstan. It is expected that more than 40 representatives from central governmental bodies, local municipalities, as well as international and non-governmental organizations will participate in the workshop.
During the seminar, it is planned to discuss the issues to be reflected in the report on implementation of ICCPR in order to develop further recommendations. Regional awareness-raising activities will create conditions for better coordination between various state organs and non-governmental organizations, as well as increase staff capacity to form a systematic, coherent and comprehensive policy in the area of human rights.
Regional workshops will be also held in the following cities of Kazakhstan: Atyrau (16 August 2013), Karaganda (26 August 2013) and Ust-Kamenogorsk (28 August 2013). For registration, please contact Farida Mussayeva by e-mail email@example.com or by phone: +7 7172 59 14 20.
