Amman - The Host Communities Support Platform (HCSP), chaired by the Minister of Planning, H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Saif convened a meeting on Thursday 9th January 2014 to endorse the Government’s National Resilience Plan (NRP). The NRP provides a strategic framework for Jordan’s response to the impact of the Syria crisis, with a focus on supporting Jordanian host communities in the most affected areas of the Kingdom.

In the lead-up to Kuwait II Pledging Conference for Syria: Partners discuss UNDP’s US$166 Million Resilience-based Development Response to the crisis in Syria and neighbouring Countries
Amman – Development partners from 18 countries and the EU meeting in Amman today agreed that the Kuwait II Pledging Conference for Syria, slated for 15 January 2014, should encompass support for critical development efforts to compliment the humanitarian response to the crisis in Syria and its spill over impacts on neighbouring countries. The meeting which brought together partners with long-standing experience and knowledge of the region and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Directors from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey endorsed UNDP’s Resilience-based Development Response in support of people and communities affected by the Syrian crisis in the five countries.

United Nations Development Programme organizes study visit to India for Independent Election Commission of Jordan
A delegation of senior Jordanian officials of the Independent Election Commission visited India from 29 November to 5 December 2013 to study the conduct of elections there. The Jordanian delegation, headed by Commissioner Atef Al Btoush and accompanied by UNDP staff, witnessed the state assembly elections in Rajasthan and Delhi, and received briefings by the Election Commission of India.

An agreement was signed yesterday with an amount of 2 million Swiss francs given to UNDP from the Swiss Agency for Development to support the project” mitigating the impact of the crisis of Syrian refugees on the Jordanian host communities” which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in the governorates of Irbid and Mafraq in cooperation with the Jordanian government.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) joined today the global Giving Tuesday initiative, launching a local campaign in selected Jordanian Northern municipalities affected by the heavy influx of Syrian refugees, which exerted formidable pressure on municipal services, particularly solid waste management. The event is organized under the theme “Let’s Make Our Municipality Cleaner and Greener”.

During a meeting chaired by HE the Minister of Municipalities Affairs, Eng.
