    FORMER PRESIDENT HABIBIE IS IN UNDP’S PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT TO WOMEN POLITICIANS

    Indonesian former President B.J. Habibie has taken part in UNDP’s sponsored public service announcement (PSA) on women politicians. The 30-second PSA features Habibie calling voters to choose for qualified female candidates in the April 9 election. UNDP’s Strengthening Women’s participation in Governance (SWARGA) supported the production of the psa.

    NEW PARTNERSHIP ON NEGLECTED DISEASES IN INDONESIA

    On 27 February 2014, Indonesia launched a new initiative to increase access and delivery of health technologies for tuberculosis (TB), malaria and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). The initiative, known as the “Access and Delivery Partnership”, was launched by Prof. Agus Purwadianto, Senior Adviser to the Minister of Health Indonesia, in the presence of over 20 policy makers from government agencies in Indonesia.

    Bureaucracy reform road map launched in Aceh province

    The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Indonesia on Tuesday launched a road map of bureaucracy reform (2013-2017) for the province of Aceh. The province of Aceh became the third in the country, after Gorontalo and Bangka Belitung, to formulate such road map.

    As part of our efforts to monitor voting for Role Models for Peace and validate genuine votes received for the N-Peace Awards, technical experts will be running a routine verification process. As of 4pm (ICT) 19 June, 2013, we have temporarily suspended voting for Role Models For Peace so to implement this process.Voting will be live again at 11am (ICT) 20 June, 2013 and will remain open until 3 July 2013.     Winners of Journalism Award – Access to Justice

    Journalists head to Ternate to see access of justice

    UNDP recently travelled with Tempo English and Jakarta Post to meet beneficiaries of UNDP’s Legal Access fo Disadvantages (LEAD) Project in Ternate. During the trip, the journalists met victims of violence and local housewifes who act as paralegals. The housewives were trained by a local NGO which has been UNDP’s working partner since 2008.
