Independent High-Level Commission Finds that an Epidemic of Bad Laws and Human Rights Abuses is Stifling the Global AIDS Response
A high-level Commission, supported by UNDP on behalf of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, finds that punitive laws and human rights abuses are costing lives, wasting money and stifling the global AIDS response. In its report titled ‘HIV and the Law: Risks, Rights and Health,’ the Commission calls for laws that protect human rights to save lives, save money and end the epidemic.

A new UNDP publication examines the threat of climate change on the livelihoods of billions of people, who are dependent on the US$12 trillion generated annually from the large marine ecosystems. The report ‘Frontline Observations on Climate Change and the Sustainability of Large Marine Ecosystems’ observes that warming ocean waters are causing major shifts in fish distribution and severe degradation of coastal habitats.
