UNDP will continue to support efforts by nations and communities to mainstream biodiversity conservation into the development agenda through discussions at the eleventh Conference of Parties (CoP 11) in Hyderabad. UN Under-Secretary-General and UNDP Associate Administrator Rebeca Grynspan, who is on a nine-day mission to India between 10-18 October 2012, will address delegates of CoP 11 on 17 October.

Madhya Pradesh to Set Up Over 600 Model Gram Panchayats: Model Gram Panchayats Based on Criteria Developed by UNDP Project
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the state government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to set up 600 model gram panchayats in the state by the end of the year. The panchayats will be based on 12 parameters developed as part of a joint UNDP-Government of India partnership on capacity development for local governance.
