Mukesh Kumar Kejariwal and Harikishan Sharma of Dainik Jagran; Pavithra S Rangan of Outlook magazine; Sandip Das of The Financial Express; Rakhi Ghosh, a freelance journalist and Atul Kumar Singh of Hindustan have been awarded the Government of India and UNDP Media Fellowships on Decentralized Planning-2015. The media Fellowship is awarded annually for journalists to work in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.

R K Laxman, the genius chronicler of India's political and social life and creator of the Common Man, had exclusively sketched cartoons for UNDP’s Human Development Calendar in 2007. Laxman, recipient of numerous awards, among them the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Magsaysay Award, passed away on the evening of 26 January 2015. He was 93.

The Government of India has re-affirmed its commitment to development cooperation by pledging over US$ 9 million to UN development activities in 2015. India was among the 26 countries that have pledged USD 560 million in support of UN development activities for the next year.

SAARC Statisticians Call for an Increased Investment in National Statistical Systems for Better Human Development in the Region
An Outcome Statement released by statisticians from SAARC countries at the closing of the International Centre for Human Development's Study Week urges member states to increase investment in improving capacities of national statistical systems to better collect and analyze data on human development in these countries, which account for 23 percent of the world’s population. Such an investment will allow for a comparative monitoring of human development progress to help governments track progress, ensure effective monitoring and evaluation, and promote evidence-based decision making.
