India+SocialGood: Involving Everyone in the Big Discussions of the Day
Speaking at the India+SocialGood Summit in Mumbai, Lise Grande, UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator said that social media helps link people with solutions to institutions that can bring these solutions to scale.
The video shows how a UNDP project in partnership with the government of Odisha is building the resilience of local communities against extreme weather conditions in coastal areas of the state. Implemented in Puri district where water logging has caused widespread devastation, the partnership effectively demonstrates that when communities are empowered to manage their water resources, farm productivity increases, children have clean drinking water and women have to walk less in search of water. The project is supported by the Australian Agency for International Development.
